Indigenous Tribes
Part of what makes the Northwest Territories spectacular and wonderful is the many Indigenous tribes that make the Northwest Territories home and they have done so for thousands and thousands of years.
Four distinct Aboriginal groups live here and have been here long before the new people came here and named this the “Northwest Territories”.
The four main Indigenous Tribes are:
1. Dene
2. Metis
3. Inuvialiut
4. Inuit
Each occupy a specific habitat, each have their own language and customs. Each have their own governing political organizations. More to come…
